Lizzard is committed to empower others to go after their dreams.   She is the founder of  “Women in Science & Technology” (WST) which provides high school aged females the opportunity to learn about science, and “Proyecto Chispa” which encourages the education of underprivileged children by providing computers and educational games to orphanages throughout Latin America.  She is also the founder and CEO of Lizzard Fashion, an eco-friendly company that promotes science through fashion and donates part of all sales to fund cancer research.  In addition she is a Harvard scientist wrapping up her PhD in cancer biology.  Her curiosity, desire to better society and fearless attitude is contagious.  She encourages her audience to be bold, ask questions, and “never never never give up”.   Lizzard’s intelligence is undeniable, but her heart and desire to continually push herself is even more inspiring.  No matter what field you are in, after hearing Lizzard speak you will be motivated to push your own limits and reach for new goals. 1. Inertia- an object in motion stays in motion

Set your dreams in motion.  Combining music, biology, physics, pop culture and history Lizzard describes how she started her life as ‘the scientist’ (Cold Play) and encourages others to reach their potential and ‘come on baby light your fire’ (the Doors). She details ‘the catalysts’ (Linkin Park) that led to her success and the obstacles where she got ‘no love’ (Eminem ft Lil Wayne) as she continued to push forward and be “all the above” (Maino).  Set your dreams in motion this is your moment, ‘moment for life’ (Niki Manaj).

2. Life doesn’t frighten me at all.

There is perhaps nothing more frightening than the diagnosis of cancer, but with research one day it won’t be. During this talk Lizzard describes her role on the forefront of the fight against cancer. At a very young age cancer left it’s insidious mark on Lizzard’s family and these memories serve as a constant reminder pushing Lizzard to work harder.  Learn how current therapies work, where future research is heading, and why Lizzard is confident that together if we take action and support research one day we will have a cure.

3. In the right shoes, you can conquer the world.

This lecture focuses on challenges and adventures of being a young successful woman scientist and entrepreneur.  In science and fashion there are unique sets of pressures that come with being female.  Lizzard addresses her own struggles, and realization that you don’t have to conform to given mold.  A perfect pair of pumps may be what you need to negotiate a business deal, while simple yet stylish flats may be more appropriate for looking at gene expression data.  Lizzard encourages her audience to learn how to adapt to your surroundings to position yourself for success.

Had a blast taking pictures with Greg Harren today for an upcoming issue of South Shore Living Magazine.  We started on Newbury St, made our way through Boston Common, up to the State House, and then celebrated a sucssessful shoot with some beers at Cheers!   It was an amazing experience- we even stopped traffic (can’t wait to see the photos!).  Greg is incredibly talented & I urge everybody to check out his work! Can’t wait to work together again!

About the shirt~

Lizzard is a joint PhD student at Harvard in the laboratories of Dr. Gerhard Wagner and Dr. Judy Lieberman.. doing a combined PhD Lizzard uses biophysics/structural biology to try to understand what’s going on in a cancer cell.  ”Honestly, I have the best time, I get a chance to work with most talented people on the planet- total rockstars”.

Dr. Lieberman asked Lizzard to create T-shirts for the lab for a scientific retreat.   Using primary data from recent lab publications Lizzard created a design that truly rocks!  Dr. Lieberman is quite the rockstar herself, with a PhD in thoeretical physics from Rockefeller and a MD from Harvard Medical, Judy is an amazing scientist.  She’s a world expert on understanding the role of non-coding RNAs and she pretty much wrote the  book on granzyme mediated cell death.  ”I feel very  lucky to do my PhD with Judy.  She is such a great mentor, so supportive of everything I do and constantly encourages me to do my best.  The entire Lieberman lab is like a family.  I love everyone here and some of my favorite times are rocking out with all you guys in lab! Thank you!”

The fellas at Movember (Bubba you’re the man)  & Lizzard have a lot in common, we both hate cancer and we both love a good party.  So it makes perfect sense that Lizzard and Movember are joining forces to make the BOS edition of Movember the best yet.  So, men if you’re brave enough, for the month of November I dare you to grow a mo, become walking, talking billboards for the next 30 days to raise awareness about men’s health. SPOTTED! NFL player Terrence Wheatley of the Buffalo Bills is caught smooching Lizzard on the MBTA!
